Trying to figure out what came first “The poet” or “The weird” is a great debate in some communities. While it’s easy to assume that the culture of a poet is strange it could appear that way because the lifestyle is being simulated upon by a poser who just wants to give the impression of being misunderstood and other worldly. In the case of a posing poet they might actually manufactur weird to the best of their imaginations thus giving all poets the label “weird”.
Let’s look at the reality of the situation though, posers aside, people who are naturally poetic are quiet weird. They are most likely the strangest people who have roamed the face of the earth. The weirdness of a poet can range from the hermit like behavior of Sara Teasdale to the downright madness exhibited by the late Edgar Allan Poe. The stereotype of a poet is a loner who just doesn’t fit in and for good reason because they are probably insane anyway.
Digging past the stereo type of what constitutes as weird for a poet it is important to realize that true poets are highly sensitive people. Not only are they sensitive but they are empathetic to a fault. Their ability to care might actually border as unsettling to a love interest who ends up feeling smothered or stalked.
The interesting thing is that what makes a poet so weird is also what it takes to create great literature and poems in the first place! Poets are weird but they are also great human beings! It might be easy to stereotype and ridicule a true poets eccentricities but this is a huge mistake. The poet is literally the heart and soul of society bleeding on the paper for all mankind to read for the rest of eternity.
Writers and artists have drawn inspirations from about every possible source over the years art has evolved in the world. Perhaps the most powerful of all of these is the inherit emotions which brought about the works of art, music or films in the first place. This article will feature a quick look at a few key arguments as to how emotion can fuel the artistic muse. More specifically, it will focus on a few key emotions that seem to inspire the most creations, the way to translate emotion into various mediums of art, and how what this means for all of the creations that have yet to be thought of.
Emotions Common To Creations
The artistic muse, as it’s called, is a fancy term for the inspiration that an artist draws from in order to create something new. Often times this is the emotional head space that an artist finds himself in at the time of that creation, which can then resonate with those that appreciate these creations later. Consider the song by R.E.M. “Everybody Hurts”. While this is commonly thrown into a mix of sad songs that have been written, this wasn’t the emotion that inspired the song at all. The lyrics and composition of the music suggest the writer coming from a place of hope in writing the song. Even the lyrics suggest that his pain is something that everyone is going to endure at one point or another.
Sadness, however, is one of the most common muses for artwork. Depression is something that strikes at the heart of some of the most brilliantly creative minds since the dawn of time. Hope is a natural progression from that depressed place into a transition towards happiness. Perhaps the five most common emotions which inspire artists are as follows:
Understanding how emotion can fuel the artistic muse is as simple as understanding the way that you respond when you are overcome with a particular emotion. When you are enthralled in a new love, is it something that you want to talk about with everyone? Is it something that you never want to spend a minute without? It’s much like this with any emotion and an artist that decides to turn it into something productive. The primary difference is a specific talent that these individuals have to translate real world emotions into something that can be universally understood and related to.
You have a better idea how emotion can fuel the artistic muse, so it stands to reason that you know this primary pool of inspiration isn’t going to dry out for as long as humans walk the earth. People have to find a way to ventilate their emotions, even the overly positive ones, to not allow themselves to be completely overcome with them. Thousands of songs are written every year, thousands of paintings will be created on canvases, and sculptures will be molded. Emotion will always play a role in these creations, because at the heart of every decision that a human makes is an emotion; and an action that represents a responsibility to these emotions.
There are so many social issues causing chaos and turmoil in America today. Sadly, not much is being done to solve these problems. We as a nation have our priorities all mixed up. America is at a crucial turning point right now with our upcoming election. Regardless of the outcome we are in for a big change, and it doesn’t look good from where I’m sitting.
Lack of Compassion
There is a blatant lack of compassion for our fellow citizens. It seems to be near impossible for an alarmingly large number of Americans to imagine themselves in the shoes of another. Whether it be those of the homeless man holding a sign on the corner, or Syrian refugees fleeing for their lives. It is easy for us to judge from our warm homes, while relishing our freedoms. It is easy to turn our cheek in the other direction ignoring the suffering of others. What is hard is feeling empathy for these people, and having to face change in order to help make a difference in their lives.
America is all about the almighty dollar. It is after all, a capitalistic society. The powers that be just keep getting richer while us of the middle class keep moving closer to the poverty line at a frightening rate. So few want to raise the minimum wage to a sustainable amount, while those same people want to cut or eradicate Government assistance. There they are once again showing that lack of compassion. Prices on everything continue to rise, yet people are expected to juggle families while holding down more than one full time job just to barely squeak by. This causes an exorbitant amount of stress leading Americans to depression and subsequently often times addiction.
Mental Health Crisis
One of the most tragic causes of turmoil in social America presently, is the staggering number of people living with an untreated mental illness. This often leads to addiction, homelessness, violence, and criminal activity. Instead of helping these individuals and assuming responsibility of society’s role in it, we blame the victims and treat them as though they are the problem. Acknowledgment that this is a product of our broken society would require major change including financial responsibility for programs to aid in their recovery. Our Government has repeatedly proven that funding programs to help their citizens in need is non-existent on their list of priorities. Once again it’s easier to misplace blame rather than take responsibility that requires action. Action that would cost money they aren’t willing to part with.
Our healthcare system is the root of turmoil in copious amounts of American’s lives. Many have gone bankrupt and worse, lost their lives due to unaffordable healthcare. The pharmaceutical companies are out for profit. Nowadays there is a pill for every symptom, yet so few cures available. Often our lifestyles encourage illness. A steady diet of fast food and refined sugar is the ultimate recipe for a myriad of health problems. Add to that the chemicals in our environment and there is no wonder the rate of cancer among other diseases are on a steady incline. The treatments for these diseases are obscenely costly, and often ineffective. In a country as wealthy as ours nobody should have to pay for healthcare.
America has a lot of work to do to improve our country for the sake of all of us. The problem lies in the infuriating fact that profit trumps everything else. If it costs the rich anything at all they want nothing to do with it. Greed is an unfortunate problem in America. So until the powers that be grow a conscience, or the American people rise up and make a stand turmoil will continue to be a reality in our society and most likely continue to get worse.

How Can the Forms of Art Hеlр Yоu Fоrgеt Yоur Wоrrіеѕ?
Cаn раіntіng or аrсhіtесturе be a wау of reaching tо rеlаxаtіоn and gооd feeling аbоut you? Mу аnѕwеr іѕ definite: оf course. Only thіnk аbоut thе emotion thаt аn exquisitely mаdе buіldіng mаkеѕ уоu fееl? Dоn’t уоu feel shivers? I’m ѕurе that when you thіnk of a bеаutіful раіntіng or tо a tоuсhіng bооk you feel the ѕаmе things. What better fееlіngѕ саn lеаd уоu tо rеlаxаtіоn and mеdіtаtіоn? Yоu саnnоt deny the power оf art tо саlm you down, tо mаkе уоu lеt gо оf уоur аnxіеtіеѕ, fears, tоrmеntѕ, рrоblеmѕ.

Thе fun wоuld be ѕроіlеd аnd wе wоuld probably lоѕе thе роіnt of fосuѕ thаt іѕ ѕо іmроrtаnt for meditation.
Is Art Vіtаl іn Ordеr for Meditation tо Tаkе Place?
Thе аnѕwеr tо thіѕ ԛuеѕtіоn hаѕ been роіntеd оut bеfоrе, but I wish tо ѕtrеѕѕ оut mоrе thе rоlе оf аrt fоr the relaxation technique meditation. Art in general, and muѕіс іn particular, are аll branches оf сulturе that have thе capacity tо create аnоthеr wоrld, аn imaginary wоrld that іѕ dеfіnіtеlу better thаn thе ѕоmеtіmеѕ рrоblеmаtіс рrеѕеnt world we lіvе іn.
Thіѕ imaginary wоrld not оnlу stimulates оur creativity and ѕеnѕеѕ, but іt gives us thе change tо lеt оur mіnd travel and rеѕt. Art is, аѕ far аѕ I’m соnсеrnеd, whаt еvеrуbоdу nееdѕ in оrdеr tо arrive аt thе supreme state of rеlаxаtіоn аnd mеdіtаtіоn. Meditating can’t bе dоmе wіthоut аrt, wіthоut muѕіс, wіthоut beauty.
